Hockey has a rich and interesting history in Pittsburgh from its 19th century beginnings in Oakland to the Civic Arena and currently at Consol Energy Center. Amateur hockey with the Yellow Jackets, the minor leagues with the Shamrocks and Hornets, the NHL with the Pirates and Penguins, we have had it all, and the saga continues! Learn about the history of this great sport in this great city.
Guest speaker for the event will be Larry Woods, a volunteer at the Heinz History Center. He shares his love of a variety of historical topics of local interest with guests to the center as well as through outreach presentations to the larger western PA community. At the end of the program, two persons will be chosen at random to win a pair of free tickets to the Heinz History Center, compliments of the Center.
