The Electoral College: What It Is and How It Works

On Monday, December 19, 2016, Electors will meet in their state and vote for President and Vice President on separate ballots.

To help the community better understand this part of the election process, the Peters Township Public Library will host The Electoral College: What It Is and How It Works on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m. Featured speaker will be Larry Spahr, Director of Elections for Washington County. Register online to attend or call 724.941.9430 #1.

Larry Spahr will discuss the origins of the Electoral College as founded in the U.S. Constitution and what the Founding Fathers hoped to achieve by this electoral vote for the President and Vice President. Learn more about how the Electoral College has performed in past Presidential elections and how it will impact the current election.

Spahr is a lifelong resident of Washington County. He served in the USMC from 1969 to 1975. He has been in the Elections Office for 36 years and currently is the Director of Elections for Washington County.
