GREAT THANKSGIVING LISTEN KICK-OFF EVENT
Thursday, November 12, 2015
7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Students ages 13 and older are invited to learn how to interview, write, share, and preserve the stories of people’s lives with local human interest writer, Joann Cantrell. Participants will learn a few of Ms. Cantrell’s tried and true tips on research and how to prepare engaging interview questions. She will also present the StoryCorp app that guides users through the nationwide “Great Thanksgiving Listen” interview experience from recording to archiving to sharing a grandparent’s story with the world! With the app anyone, anywhere can record a conversation. This Thanksgiving, we hope teens, parents, and grandparents will take the time to talk, share stories, and impart wisdom for generations to come. So be sure to join us for this special evening to get you started. Volunteers will also be available the day after Thanksgiving, November 27th, from 1 – 3 p.m. upstairs in the PTPL to answer questions and to assist anyone interested in participating. Additional ipads and smartphones will be available but preferably we ask that you bring your own device and of a course a special grandparent or two! To learn more go to the Great Thanksgiving Listen.
Register at the library's circulation desk or call 724.941.9430.
