SPECIAL EVENTS
SLEEPING-BAG STORY-TIME
Ages: All ages and parents
When: Friday, March 12, 2010
Time: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
WHEN THE LIBRARY LIGHTS GO OUT...THEN THE FUN BEGINS!! Come to the library for a special after-hours celebration! All ages are welcome to our Sleeping-Bag Story-Time complete with
games, crafts, stories, snacks, and movies! Wear your favorite pajamas and bring a blanket, stuffed toy, or sleeping-bag for a cozy, fun evening at the library. Register in the
Children's Department. Note: Ages 10 – 18 are invited to stay for our all-night Library Lock-In; see the Young Adult Department for details!
LET'S READ A TON OF BOOKS!
How to participate:
Beginning Monday, March 22, every time you check out books, come to the Children's Department ot have them weighed.
For every whole pound read, you will receive one ticket. Fill it out and drop it in the number of the prize you would like to try to win!
Once the TON of BOOKS (2,000 pounds) is achieved, there will be a drawing of the winning ticket for each prize.
For each additional TON read, there will be additional prizes to be won.
Saturday, April 17 (the last day of National Library Week) marks the end of the contest. Happy Reading!
"SPEEDY DELIVERY" MR. MCFEELY VISITS THE LIBRARY!

Join us at the library for a visit with one of our favorite neighbors. Mr. McFeely (aka David Newell) will be stopping by to share stories about some of the "Neighborhood of

BOOK BABIES

You can't start too early at the library! In this 20-minute program, babies will gain
contact with language through stories, songs, rhymes, and finger plays, helping them take
their first steps toward a lifetime love of books and reading. Register in the Children's Department.
MOTHER GOOSE TIME
Ages: 12 - 24 months with an adult
Duration:
8 weeks, January 12 - March 2, 2010 (winter session)

They're just learning to talk -- give them something to talk about! 20 minutes of books, fun
rhymes, songs and finger plays to encourage language growth and a love of reading. Register in the Children's Department.
TODDLER TALES
Ages: 2 - 3½ years with an adult

8 weeks, January 13 - March 3, 2010 (winter session)
9 weeks, March 24 - May 19, 2010 (spring session)
When: Wednesdays, 11:15 - 11:45 a.m. or 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
They can walk, they can talk -- and they can learn! This 30-minute program adds crafts and fun to
stories for further encouragement on the way to becoming lifelong readers. Register in the Children's Department.
PRESCHOOL STORYTIME
Ages: 3½ - 5

8 weeks, January 12 - March 3, 2010 (winter session)

They're almost ready to learn on their own -- help them get there with this parent-optional preschool
storytime. Stories, games, activities, movies, crafts and more make this 45-minute program a big hit. Register in the Children's Department.
KINDERGARTEN STORYTIME -- "WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO BE SILLY TOO?! "
Ages: Kindergartners and 5-year-olds

9 weeks, March 19 - May 14, 2010 (spring session -- please note: no class on April 2, 2010)

This full-hour program goes the next step in learning and loving reading through stories, activities,
crafts, and movies, all centered on tales about "Wouldn't You Like to be Silly Too?!" Register in the Children's Department.
BODIES IN MOTION

Have fun and keep fit at the library! A 30-minute program filled with wiggling, giggling,

BODIES IN YOGA
Ages: 3-6 with an adult

Library fun—with a twist! This new yoga class adapted for preschool children develops body awareness, language, and good listening skills while inspiring the imagination
through guided “play.” Yoga postures and breathing techniques will be taught in a fun and playful way. Children will stretch, sing, move, and imitate in this 30-minute yoga
class for youngsters. Have child dressed comfortably and prepared to “play” in bare feet! Register in the Children's Department.
TINY TUNES TODDLER
Ages: 2-3½ with an adult

BITTY BERETS FRENCH FOR FUN!

Bienvenue! (Welcome!) to Bitty Berets—an easy and fun French class for preschoolers! We will learn the French alphabet, numbers 1-10, colors, days of the week, and other

Introducing a brand-new program at your local library—Home-School Happenings! For homeschooled children in 1st – 5th grades,
this special program adds fun to the school day with sessions of creative and educational classes, including science (bizarre
experiments!), math (Sudoku challenge!), reading (mad libs!), and much more! The day also includes a Jeopardy Quiz Bowl, Wii
Sports for ‘Recess,’ art & music, and a break for lunch. With so many fun and educational activities, the day is sure to pass
quickly and be a ton of fun! As a companion to the program, a children’s staff member will give a tour of the library to parents
while their kids are in “school,” and a guest speaker with Pennsylvania Cyber/Charter School will speak on their homeschooling
program as well as discuss general options for homeschooling parents. It’s a great way to meet, greet, and make friends…so sign

PAWS FOR READING

Come into the library, curl up with a canine companion, and ... you guessed, read! In this returning program, children in grades 1 and up can visit with a registered
therapy dog at the library to gain extra self-confidence and fluency by spending time reading to these attentive animals. Call or stop in to sign up for your

ENGLISH-CHINESE FOR CHILDREN
