    SUMMER PROGRAMS

    MAKE A SPLASH!! 2010 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
    9 weeks, June 21 - August 20, 2010


    Need a little fun in the summer sun? Join us at the library and "Make a Splash!!" Summer 2010 is all about the amazing, fun, and cool things we can do with water!

    Sign-ups begin at our Kickoff Party June 5, 11:00-2:00. Learn about the programs, get your reading folders to earn special prizes, play games, taste treats, and sample some of the wet and wild water fun planned for the summer! The “Make a Splash” Summer Reading Program provides days of exciting and educational fun for all. We’ll read stories, watch movies, make crafts, play games, and learn all about the wet, wild, and wonderful world of water! And as a special bonus, every book you read during the nine weeks of summer earns tokens to be spent on fantastic prizes like books, crafts, and other awesome rewards! Summer Reading lasts for nine weeks from June 21 - August 20, concluding with a special "Splash Shop" from Monday-Friday, August 23 - September 3, and an End-of-Summer-Reading Event on Saturday, August 21 for all our participants. Your summer of discovery and adventure begins with a “splash” at the library!

    Sign up for the K-6 Summer Reading Program starting June 5 at the Peters Township Public Library. Note: There is a $5.00 fee to help cover the cost of materials, payable upon sign-up.

    This class is for children who are interested in learning Chinese Pinyin (phonics), basic vocabulary, conversation and Chinese cultures. Beginners are welcome. Register at the library's circulation desk.

    TODDLER TALES

    Day/Time: Mondays, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. OR 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. Please note: no session on July 5, 2010

    They can walk, they can talk -- and they can learn! This 30-minute program adds crafts and fun to stories for further encouragement on the way to becoming lifelong readers. Register in the Children's Department.


    PRESCHOOL STORYTIME

    Ages: 3½ - 5
    Day/Time: Tuesdays, 11:00 - 11:45 p.m. OR 1:00 - 1:45
    Enrollment limit: 35 children

    They're almost ready to learn on their own -- help them get there with this parent-optional preschool storytime. Stories, games, activities, movies, crafts and more make this 45-minute program a big hit. Register in the Children's Department.


    TINY TUNES TODDLER

    Ages: 2-3½ with an adult
    Day/Time: Wednesdays, 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
    Limit: 20 children

    Tiny Tunes is a fun, casual program of playing with and learning about music. Every week explore a different theme and way to make music. Register in the Children's Department.


    BODIES IN MOTION

    Ages: 2-5 with an adult

    Have fun and keep fit at the library! A 30-minute program filled with wiggling, giggling, jiggling fun! Register in the Children's Department.


    BODIES IN YOGA

    Ages: 3-6 with an adult
    Day/Time: Mondays, 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. Please note: no session on Monday, July 5, 2010

    Library fun—with a twist! This new yoga class adapted for preschool children develops body awareness, language, and good listening skills while inspiring the imagination through guided “play.” Yoga postures and breathing techniques will be taught in a fun and playful way. Children will stretch, sing, move, and imitate in this 30-minute yoga class for youngsters. Have child dressed comfortably and prepared to “play” in bare feet! Register in the Children's Department.


    FALL PROGRAMS FOR BABIES THROUGH KINDERGARTEN

    Fall session: 9 weeks, September 20 - November 19, 2010

    Please note: Registration for spring young children’s programs (Birth-5 yrs) begins August 9 for residents and August 16 for non-residents.

    BITTY BERETS FRENCH FOR FUN!

    Bienvenue! (Welcome!) to Bitty Berets—an easy and fun French class for preschoolers! We will learn the French alphabet, numbers 1-10, colors, days of the week, and other beginning French words, phrases, and songs.     Like to get goosebumps? Come to Camp Creepy -- the place for the brave of heart to share scary stories, snacks, and spooks. Come once a month to hear your favorite tell-in-the-dark stories around the 'campfire,' sing creepy camp songs, and even make spooky smores! Never fear -- it won't be TOO scary ... but you may want to bring a flashlight! Register in the Children's Department.


    PAWS FOR READING

    Ages: Grades 1 and up
    When: Saturdays, October 2, November 6, 2010
    Time: 10:00 - 11:40 a.m.

    Come into the library, curl up with a canine companion, and ... you guessed, read! In this returning program, children in grades 1 and up can visit with a registered therapy dog at the library to gain extra self-confidence and fluency by spending time reading to these attentive animals. Call or stop in to sign up for your twenty-minute time slot. Register in the Children's Department.


    SPOOKY OOKY HALLOWEEN PARTY

    Come to our very own Halloween Party for grades 4 - 8 ... if you dare!     FAMILY PAJAMA STORYTIME

    Bring the whole family to this once-a-month evening story-time. Come in your pajamas for a night of crafts, snacks, movies, and, of course, stories! A great way to end the day with family and friends. Upcoming topics include: September 14: Back to School Story-time; October 12: Jungle Jamboree; November 16: Pinkalicious Pink Pajama Party!     GRANDPARENTS STORY-TIME

    Grandparents and grandkids of all ages are welcome to our Grandparents Story-Time! Volunteer "Grammas" and "Grampas" are invited to read picture book stories to the young'uns and share snacks and crafts in this special story-time just in time for Grandparents Day!
