MISSION STATEMENT
In support of an informed citizenry, Peters Township Public Library provides printed
and recorded materials, programs, equipment and staff services to meet the community's
educational, professional, and recreational needs. The library strives to enrich and
empower every patron by fostering a love of learning.

The Peters Township Public Library, founded in 1957, completed construction on a new, 23,000 square foot
facility in 1999, and a 4,600 square foot library addition completed in 2008. The library now features the following :
- A 1,700 sq. ft. Community Room with moveable partitions
- An enhanced area to accommodate children's books and children's programs
- A Family Activity Center featuring many hands-on interactive items for children
- A Teen Reading Room featuring young adult books, magazines, Wii and Xbox gaming systems, and many other resources
- A Local History Room
- A computer lab with electronic resources for Internet access, business,
education and other on-line information systems
- Five study rooms on the upper level
- An expanded area housing magazines and newspapers
- A Conference Room
- A comfortable lecture/meeting room with a fireplace and piano
- Easy access for the disabled

OTHER SERVICES
In addition to traditional library services, Peters Township Public Library offers the following :
- Terminals with Internet access as well as access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other programs
- Wireless Internet access within the library building
- Copy machines (both black & white and color) -- nominal fee
- Overhead scanner/copier to use for fragile items or books with thick bindings
- Scanner to copy images into electronic format
- Listening room equipped with a DVD/VCR player and an audio-cassette player
- Meeting rooms for use by civic and cultural non-profit organizations
- Piano for public use (by reservation only)
- Typewriter for use by patrons
- A Blind / Low Vision / Learning Disabled Center
- Library talks for local organizations, clubs, or schools upon request
- Visits by classes or groups (call 724-941-9430 for arrangements)
- A Friends of the Library group which sponsors many programs and makes contributions
to the Library
- Opportunity to select memorial books in honor of or in memory of friends
or relatives
- Children's programs, including Story Time for pre-schoolers (ages 3½-5),
toddlers (ages 2½-3), and babies (ages 9-24 months) throughout the
year, Red Cross babysitting courses, special programs for kindergarteners
and youngsters in grades 1-3, and a summer reading program (grades K-5)
with field trips, movies, stories, songs, and other activities
- Local and national daily newspapers (including daily and Sunday New York Times) are
available at the library
