Animal Fair

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Fun for the whole family! Love animals? Join us as we celebrate our animal friends of the library. Check out and/or adopt a new pet friend, learn about pet care, and all things pet related. We’ll be visited by local shelters, vets, trainers, stores and more.There will also be a special appearance by the Washington Wild Things mascot! Prizes and giveaways for you and your animal friend! Please bring a pet supply donation for the Washington County Humane Society, our local shelter. Special events include:

11:15 - 11:45 a.m.: Small Pet Care presented by Petco
Noon - 12:30 p.m.: Scent and Trick Dog presented by Keystone K-9 Club
12:45 - 1:15 p.m.: Dog Training with Nick the Dog Whisperer
1:30 - 2:00 p.m.: Visit with the Washington Wild Things Mascot
The Greene County Humane Society will be bringing adoptable kittens, and Angel Ridge, Animal Advocates and the Washington Humane Society will also be bringing furry friends looking for new homes!

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with all the participants, who will be distributing samples and coupons. Everyone will receive a raffle ticket for an Animal Lover's Basket. All children who attend will have a chance to win a free animal book while supplies last. Donations are being accepted for the Washington Area Human Society in the lobby through the day of the fair. Registration is not required to attend this free event. Please note: This event is being offered to pet lovers of all ages, but please do not bring your pets to the fair.

Great Halloween Costume Swap

10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Do your part to have a "Green Halloween" this year and join us for the GO Green Club's Great Halloween Costume Swap Day. Why purchase a new costume when you can swap instead and save resources, packaging, transportation costs, AND money?

On Thursday, October 9, from 6 - 8 p.m. OR Friday, October 10 from 3 - 5 p.m. drop off your used but in GREAT condition children's, teen or adult costumes at the library and get a ticket for the swap. Come back to the library on October 11 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. with your ticket and shop for your swap. Watch for more details about this event in early September. Want to help with the Swap? It's movie night at the library! Bring your whole family as we watch terrific family-friendly movies. We'll provide the popcorn and candy -- you don't even have to buy tickets! What could be better? Just bring a sleeping bag and/or a stuffed animal friend. See you at the movies! Register in the Children's Department.
