3D PRINTER DEMONSTRATION

Join us for a demonstration of our new 3D printers. We will cover how to search and download printable objects from Thingiverse, how to prepare a print file, and how to print the selected object.

Our 3D printers are located on the 2nd level in our Maker Space -- take a look at our MakerSpace brochure to learn about all the resources available for your creating / crafting needs!

THE 10TH ANNUAL "THE GALLERY" SHOWCASES STUDENT PHOTOS
March 5 - 19, 2015

The Peters Township High School Photography Classes and Photography Club will exhibit their work in the main lobby of the library from March 5 - 19 during library open hours. “The Gallery” is a display of hundreds of student photographs from the classes and club at the high school. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Matted photographs and canvases will be on display. The Photography Club officers include President Kayla Damazo and Board Members Abby Gordon, Casey Gudenbuur, Caitie Lawrence, Emma Norton and Becky Wockley.

FINCH ROBOTICS WORKSHOP

Ages: 3rd grade and up (parents welcome)
Limit: 10
Presented by: Peters Township High School Students Roy Wang and Matt Gummersbach

Are you interested in computers? Do you want to increase your reasoning skills? Join us for the Finch Robotics Workshop! The Finch robot is a simple-to-program, fun-filled robot that allows kids of all ages to learn about computer programming. The workshop will include an introduction to basic programming with Snap! as well as prizes for winning contexts. In this day and age, computers are becoming more and more important -- begin to learn how to master them! Please note: participants must bring a laptop that has a USB port. Please install Snap! and Java on your laptop before the class.

COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE @ THE LIBRARY
Tuesday, March 17, 2015
9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Come to the library and help save area patients by donating blood!

The Central Blood Bank will be conducting a Blood Drive in the Peters Township Public Library's Multi-Purpose Room on Tuesday, March 17 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. All participating donors earn BL Rewards points.

Appointments can be made by visiting www.centralbloodbank.org. Click on "Make an Appointment" and search for sponsor code C594. You may also call 412-209-7213. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are strongly encouraged. Please remember to eat a healthy meal, drink plenty of fluids, and get a good night’s rest before donating. IMPORTANT FEDERAL AND STATE TAX INFORMATION

The Peters Township Public Library participates with the IRS and Pennsylvania Department of Revenue to provide a limited number of Federal and State Tax forms for the convenience of our library patrons. As soon as tax forms/publications become available, we place them in our Tax Distribution Area located on the second floor of the library. We also offer AARP Tax-Aide Free Help for low and moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 and older.

NEW ONLINE RESOURCES @ THE LIBRARY

America's News

The library is pleased to announce America’s News, our new digital newspaper collection. Included in the collection are current and archived issues of local newspapers including the Observer-Reporter, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, as well as many other newspapers from across the country. Users may search, browse, print, save and e-mail articles from the full-text edition of newspapers offered. America’s News is located on our “Online Databases” page under the “Find Information” tab.

ConsumerReports.org The library is also now subscribing to the online edition of Consumer Reports, ConsumerReports.org, also located at our Online Databases page. All resources on our Online Databases page are available 24/7 in the library as well as remotely.

You must have a valid library card to access our online databases. Please contact a Reference Department staff member if you need assistance accessing any of these sites.



R.E.A.D. LIBRARY COOKBOOK (RECIPES: ENTICING AND DELICIOUS!)

Looking for some new and delicious recipes? The good cooks at the library are offering 225 of their finest recipes in our first ever library cookbook. Buy one for yourself, or buy copies as gifts – all proceeds benefit the library! Recipes enticing and Delicious (R.E.A.D.) would make a terrific hostess gift for Thanksgiving. Do you need a gift for your pet sitter, beautician or manicurist? What about your child's teachers? Do you ned somethig for a grab bag? The answer to all of these questions is the same: R.E.A.D.! Support your award-winning Peters Township Public Library as you take care of many of your gift-giving needs.

Cookbooks are available at the library or by mail order. WASHINGTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA TICKETS NOW ON SALE AT THE LIBRARY!

Tickets for Washington Symphony Orchestra concerts are now available at the library. Tickets will be available one month prior to the concert. Unless otherwise noted, all regular season concerts take place at Trinity High School and start promptly at 8:00 p.m. Upcoming concerts include:

Sunday, March 8, 2015: Up Close and Personal (3:00 matinee performance; tickets are $10.00 and sold only online or at the door. Location is the First Baptist Church, Wheeling & College Sts., Washington, PA)

Saturday, May 2, 2015: For Honor and Glory! Tickets are available at the library, online at www.washsym.org, or by calling 1-888-71-TICKETS. Tickets are also available at Washington Financial bank braches and Citizens Library. Tickets are $22.00 per adult (ages 18-64), $17.00 for youth (grades K - 12), and $17.00 for seniors (ages 65+). Season tickets are on sale now at a signficant discount by going to www.washsym.org or by calling 1-888-71-TICKETS.
